Ultrasonic welding solutions
Adhesive-free bonds for filtration and sorbent products — welded, not glued, in Newmarket, Ontario, for customers across North America.
The problem
Adhesive is a liability inside a filter
Glue solves the join and creates four new problems — in the airstream, on the line, and over the product's life.
- Outgassing in the airstream — adhesives can off-gas into exactly the air the filter exists to clean.
- Bonds that age — heat, humidity and vibration work on glue joints for the product's whole life; failures arrive late and in the field.
- Blocked media — adhesive wicking into the web blinds the pores it touches; every glued edge is dead filter area.
- Cure time on the line — dispensing, clamping and curing add process steps, fixtures and wait time to every unit.
- Another material to qualify — the adhesive needs its own sourcing, spec, shelf life and compatibility testing.
- Contamination risk — stray adhesive is a defect generator in any product that has to stay clean.
The cleanest join in a polypropylene product is more polypropylene. Everything added to make a bond is something that can fail one.
How we fix it
Welded joins, no glue in the product
Polypropylene bonded to itself
Ultrasonic energy fuses the layers — the join is the same material as the product, with nothing added to age, outgas or fail.
No cure, no wait
Welds happen in the machine cycle — no dispensing, clamping or cure time slowing the line down.
Proven in our own products
Our GreenStrength pads are two-layer ultrasonically welded constructions — the weld pattern is on the spec sheet, tested and shipped daily.
Welded to your design
Weld patterns and join geometry set to your product — filtration, sorbent or another polypropylene assembly.
