GreenStrength · oil absorbents

Oil spill pad — POM‑295‑18

The workhorse of the GreenStrength line. A two-layer meltblown polypropylene sheet, ultrasonically welded so it holds together saturated — it drinks oil and fuel and leaves water behind. Made in Newmarket, shipped across North America.

Inside the pad

Layer by layer

Two meltblown sorbent layers, ultrasonically welded — POM‑295‑18. Watch the construction assemble, then tap a layer to see what it does.

  • Ultrasonic weld pattern — bonds the two layers with no adhesive
    • Holds together fully saturated — lift a loaded pad without it tearing apart
    • No adhesive — nothing to dissolve in oil, fuel or solvents
    • Consistent weld pattern, pad after pad, on our own line
    • Welded on the same equipment we build in-house
  • Meltblown sorbent layers ×2 — oleophilic capillaries drink oil, repel water
    • Absorbs up to 22× its weight in oil — validated by a certified third-party lab
    • Oil-only: picks up hydrocarbons, leaves the water behind
    • 100% virgin polypropylene — consistent capillary structure
    • Two layers doubles the hold without doubling the handling

The layers are laminated ultrasonically — nothing to dissolve in oil or solvents — and we build custom laminations to your needs. How ultrasonic welding works · Start a custom lamination

What it is

A pad is the format you reach for when the oil is already on the floor. Two layers of meltblown polypropylene sorbent are ultrasonically welded together — no adhesive, nothing to dissolve in oil, fuel or solvent — so a fully loaded pad lifts in one piece instead of tearing apart in your hand.

The fibre does the work. Meltblown polypropylene is oleophilic and hydrophobic: the capillary structure pulls hydrocarbons in and pushes water out, which is why the same pad works on a shop floor, under a leaking fitting, or floating on a puddle outdoors.

Where it goes to work

  • Drip points under machines and presses
  • Maintenance and teardown work
  • Spot spills on the plant floor
  • Fleet and automotive service bays
  • Wipe-down of oily parts and tooling
  • Spill-kit refills and restocks

How to use it

  1. Lay the pad over the spill or under the drip point — flat contact wicks fastest.
  2. Let it wick. The capillaries fill from the contact face outward; a saturated pad darkens and stops taking more.
  3. Lift and replace when saturated — the weld pattern holds the loaded pad together.
  4. Dispose of the used sorbent in line with your local regulations for hydrocarbon-contaminated waste.
